Officer engages in verbal altercation with driver
On Saturday, March 23, 2002, Corrections Officer John Spirk was driving to work while in uniform, driving his personal vehicle, a Nissan Xtera. As Officer Spirk traveled east on Second Street he was almost involved in a crash with Ms. Myra Hines who was also driving on Second Street and attempting to change lanes. After the near crash, Corrections Officer Spirk and Ms. Hines both allegedly became involved in a verbal altercation where Officer Spirk addressed Ms. Hines using profane, abusive, and demeaning language.
Sergeant Saylor investigated this complaint by interviewing Ms. Hines and Officer Spirk. Sergeant Saylor found that the complaint did have merit.
