On advice of attorney, deputy refuses to cooperate with investigation
On Monday, September 22, 2003, Deputy Rodney Ables deployed a less lethal shotgun firing, one Super Sock beanbag round into Mr. Rondel Swango. Sergeant Edgar Copher responded to the scene as the Special Investigations supervisor.
Deputy Ables refused to complete a scene re-enactment or give a verbal statement at the advice of his attorney. Deputy Ables wrote a supplement report before going off duty concerning the shooting. In the supplement report Deputy Ables wrote in capital letters that Sergeant Copher ordered him to prepare the report. Sergeant Copher said that he did not order Deputy Ables to write the report.
